Northwest Veterinary Clinic is proud to offer the MAVANA Extern Grant Program. This program will provide 3rd and 4th year veterinary students up to a $500 grant to help offset the travel, lodging and other expenses associated with participating in an externship. You can find more information on this program with the following link:

Northwest Veterinary Group has 2 practices which offer externship experiences. Between our two practices we offer routine and emergency care for companion animals, food animals, equine, small ruminants, and exotic animals.  We have 14 doctors in total with 6 mobile veterinary units for large animal and equine farm calls.  During these calls students will be able to participate in wellness exams, sick animal examinations, routine and advanced dental procedures. minor surgeries, dairy herd checks, colic exam and treatment, lameness exams, emergencies, alpaca care, and check in on the occasional sick wallaby.  In the small animal clinic students will also be able to participate in the daily case load at a level commensurate with their interest and training.  The doctors and technicians will work with them side by side in the treatment area, surgery and exam rooms.  The student will be expected to share with the staff their insights and knowledge they have gained while in veterinary school about the cases currently in the hospital. While they are there each student will be asked to make a presentation at a scheduled staff meeting on a topic or case of their choice.
Potentially, housing is available with one of our staff members.
