Northwest Veterinary Clinic of Stanwood is proud to offer after-hours farm animal services when our clients have animals in need of urgent or emergency care. 

We are part of a pool of available veterinarians who collaborate to offer after-hours emergency care to large animals. So, while our veterinarians may not be the ones who take your call, you can be sure a trusted veterinarian will be available.

  • Which animals do you specialize in treating?

    We specialize in treating cattle sheep, pigs and goats.

  • What can I expect at an appointment for my large animal?

    When examining your large animal during a routine exam, we will check their physical condition in order to determine their overall health.

    A full physical examination will be performed and appropriate preventive care recommended. We'll also take time to answer any questions you may have regarding your animal to help ensure their health and longevity.

  • Do you make farm calls?

    Yes, Dr. Timothy Cuchna regularly makes farm calls for routine health assessments, herd health consultations, nutritional counseling, flock management appointments and surgeries.

  • Can you assist with reproductive health needs?

    Yes. We are trained in identifying, monitoring and managing reproductive health needs in livestock. This includes consultations to assess the reproductive status of animals, pregnancy diagnosis and routine care for animals throughout their pregnancies.

    We are also able to offer on-farm obstetrical assistance and C-sections when required. 

  • Are you able to perform surgery?

    Absolutely! Dr. Timothy Cuchna is able to provide a number of different surgical services to farm animals, from routine surgeries such as disbudding to emergency C-sections or urgent farm calls.

    If the surgical needs of your animal are outside of our abilities, we will be sure to refer you to a trusted veterinarian or veterinary specialist in Snohomish or Skagit County and will work with them to ensure your animal gets the best possible care.

  • Will my animal need anesthesia? Is your staff trained to administer anesthesia to large animals?

    The anesthetic needs of your large animal will depend on their breed, size and the procedure that is being performed. Dr. Timothy Cuchna has extensive experience is assessing animals'  anesthesia needs and administering anesthetics to large animals.

    We can advise you how much your animal will need depending on its circumstances and will have you sign a consent form before administering any anesthetic. 

  • How long before I can have my animal return to its regular routine?

    Depending on your animal's condition and needs, our veterinarians will advise you about their timeline for recovery and when you can begin to return your animals to their regular routine.
